How to be More Effective at What You Do

When we work with clients, the first question we ask them is: ‘Would you like things to be different?’

More often than not, the answer is a resounding, ‘YES!’

But when we ask them HOW they would like things to be different, they aren’t so sure.

They feel that something isn’t quite right but find it hard to put their finger on what that ‘something’ is. They would love to be a better leader, a better manager, a better colleague, friend or parent, but they aren’t sure what needs to change to get them there.

When we dig deeper, we find that really, the only thing holding them back is a lack of clarity.

A lack of clarity on what their emotions are telling them. On what’s driving them. On their strengths and their areas for development.

The process of finding clarity begins with building self-awareness, which leads to personal effectiveness. The more personally effective people become, the more they, others, their community and ultimately the planet, benefit.

We’ve discovered that the kinds of things people struggle with are often very similar. In their own words, here are some responses from participants on one of our Peer Support programmes, when asked about the main challenge facing them:

  • ‘I don’t have the confidence to say ‘no’ and deal with the repercussions.’
  • ‘I get overwhelmed when I try to prioritise my to-do list.’
  • ‘I don’t have enough courage to try new ideas.’

  • ‘I struggle to switch off from work.’

  • ‘I worry about getting things wrong and am afraid to disagree with people.’

So…

Confidence

Overwhelm

Courage

Switching off

Fear…
